MARCH/APRIL was a time of mixed emotions, with the loss of our charter member and dear friend, Fermin Garcia "Chief". On behalf of the lodge and our family, we extend heartfelt sympathy to JoAnn, to Chief's family, and to those who were closest to him. I hope we can find peace within our faith as we move forward without him.

Nominations for the 2010-11 Board of Officers are being collected at this time. If you would like to hold any of the vacant positions, please fill out the appropriate nomination slip and put it in the red box located on the showcase in the Social Quarters. Nominations will close on Thursday, April 1st, at 6:00 pm, in order for the nominating committee to prepare the final ballots. We are hoping for a strong and dedicated list of nominees for this election. The election will be held on Monday, April 12th, starting at 2:00 pm. The voting poll will close at 7:00 pm. We will have a current list of active members available; however, it would make the voting process run more efficiently if you have your current membership card with you and out of your wallet when you are ready to sign in and place your ballot. Please encourage all members to come out to vote and help elect a strong board of officers for 2010-11. Installation of the new officers will take place on Monday, April 26th, at 7:00 pm. We ask that all members come out and welcome the newly elected officers and encourage them with your support as they take charge of business on May 1, 2010. Again, thank you all for the years of dedication to the Malvern Moose Lodge #2365.

I want to express my appreciation to everyone who helped to make the Arkansas Razorback 181 Legion Celebration a success. A special thanks to the bartenders and our Governor, "the grillmaster", for the extra long hours you put in over the weekend. We received many compliments on our home lodge and the hospitality of our local members. Thanks again to everyone for representing our lodge with a nice, positive and friendly atmosphere.

We would like to thank everyone for all the hard work and dedication shown throughout the holiday season [Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year]. We do know everyone is extremely busy during that time of year, but many dedicated lodge and chapter members seem to always come through and find time to give to others in our community who may be less fortunate than themselves. A special "thank you" goes out to those who helped with the Christmas Party for thirty-five [35] underpriviledged children and their families. Thanks to all individuals and businesses who donated time and funding to help make this annual event possible in these hard economical times. A special thanks to our UNP Kids Party guests: former mayor, Bill Scrimpshire and of course, Santa Clause and his assistant [a.k.a. Joey & Valerie Pinkston] for joining us in this time of giving. For fear of leaving someone out, we hesitate to mention by name the lodge and chapter members to whom we are so grateful. Consistently hard workers know who they are; we just hope that everyone else recognizes the spirit of giving present among our members.
